2,4,6,8, why we should exfoliate!

Yesterday I did a post on an amazing exfoliator from the Ordinary.

In case you missed it, it was about the

Ordinary's AHA 30% +BHA 2% Peeling solution. It leaves your skin so smooth to the touch and look that my Pilates instructor made the comment during the class that my skin looked so good she could "skate on my face". I use it 2X a week, and always following with their hyaluronic acid and my moisturizer. The peel is a one step process. I add the hyaluronic acid afterwards followed by my moisturizer to add moisture back into my skin. (more on moisturizers in another post:)

But why is it important to exfoliate? It's important to exfoliate because doing so gets rid of the dead skin cells which, in turn, makes way for new fresh cells, resulting in skin looking and feeling healthier. It can help us achieve a more even looking skin tone and help with the reduction of dark spots and fine lines. It helps moisturizing products penetrate deeper, making them more effective. It can unclog pores, which can help prevent the formation of blackheads and white heads. And it can stimulate the blood flow to the skin, resulting in a more radiant complexion. That gives me enough reasons to do it!

As I said, I use the peeling solution twice a week but what about the other days?

Well, say hello to Dr. Gross Daily Peel!

If you have never tried this, you must. There is a reason it's a cult favorite and the reason is that it works. It's easy, quick and something you can literally do in two minutes. It's a two-step application but it's as easy and quick as wiping a cotton pad across your face.

The reason it's called a "daily peel" is because you can do it every day. The reason its daily is because every 24 hours a new layer of dead cells makes their way to the skin's surface. For first time users, its recommended starting week one using every 3 days, week 2 every other day and week 3 daily. If you are using the ordinary peel once or twice a week. then adjust your daily peel so you are not overdoing it. There are two simple steps. Each application comes in two attached packets (which also makes this very portable for travel). Packet one is the exfoliator. You massage onto your clean dry face. Massage until the pad become dry. Then wait two minutes. Here's where I bush my teeth, take my pills or even jump in the shower for quick rinse! After 2 minutes, take the second pad and wipe over your face until dry. This is the neutralizer step. Follow with your hyaluronic acid and moisturizer. You can do this in the am or pm but just once a day.

These peels come in different strengths. There is Dr Gross gentle daily peel for sensitive and dry skin and (trial size) Dr. Gross universal peel for normal to combination skin and (trial size and Dr. Gross extra strength peel for oily or combination skin and the (trial size). There is also an overnight peel which is dosed with 0.5 pure retinol. If you want to test them out to see which one you like the best getting the trial size may be the way to go. I use the universal peel and the extra strength peel as well as the overnight peel, alternating usage. First time users, I would recommend the gentle peel or the universal peel. Both will give you outstanding results!

There you have it. The benefits of exfoliation and what to use. Just get it and start using it and see the difference. Your friends will ask you what you did to get that glow. Ands it's up to you to share the secret!
